Meet Matthew! Matthew is an inspiring figure in the North Carolina community who has dedicated his life to promoting disability acceptance. At 25 years old, he’s already made remarkable strides – from working in the NC legislature and hosting a TEDx Talk, to starting his own public speaking company (Matthew Schwab Speaks). His passion for making change drives him each day as he works towards creating a more accepting world for everyone.

Meet Lisa! Working in New Bern for over 20 years, Assistant Program Director Lisa Melton works hard to make sure that all her clients feel comfortable and confident in their decisions. She reminds them each day to use their own voice in determining their experiences. When Lisa asks a client who is in charge, they reply with, ‘I’m the boss’. In the spirit of Every Voice Matters, this is a reminder of our mission to empower others through independence.
