Celebrating What Makes Us Different: The Abound Health Team at the NC Special Olympics
On June 4th, the Abound Health team had the great honor of attending the NC Special Olympics in Raleigh. This annual event celebrates the talent and abilities of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), bringing people from all over the state together to participate in various sports and activities. With clients and friends competing from all around the state, the weekend was filled with inspiring moments and lots of fun.
The Special Olympics is a truly remarkable event where everyone is celebrated for their unique abilities. It’s a time when people can truly be themselves and showcase their talents to the fullest. This spirit of inclusivity and empowerment is what makes the NC Special Olympics such a special event. As a service provider, it was truly meaningful for us to be a part of this celebration.
The sports and activities at the Special Olympics were diverse and engaging. From track and field to basketball to powerlifting, there was something for everyone. And the level of competition was impressive – we saw athletes pushing themselves to their limits and achieving amazing results. Everyone cheered each other on and showed great sportsmanship. It was truly inspiring to see such a sense of community and camaraderie.
One of the most touching moments of the day was the Opening Ceremony. As the athletes entered the stadium, the crowd erupted in thunderous applause. The feeling of celebration and excitement was palpable.It was a moment of personal validation and pride for each athlete and their families.
Another great aspect of the Special Olympics was the sense of collaboration and support. We saw athletes from different counties and regions working together as teammates and friends. We also saw coaches and volunteers going above and beyond to create a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. It was clear that everyone involved was invested in making the day as successful and enjoyable as possible.
At Abound Health, we believe that everyone deserves to live their best life, regardless of any challenges they may face. The NC Special Olympics exemplifies this belief by uplifting and showcasing the abilities of people with IDD.
