Abound Health Celebrates IDD Awareness Month

Across the state, local governments have made Intellectual Disability Awareness Month official by issuing Proclamations to our Advocacy team. In Raleigh, Greensboro, and Charlotte, our clients celebrated with ‘Proclamation Parties’ where clients read the Proclamation aloud and enjoyed the moment together.

IDD Awareness Month is about increasing understanding and acceptance of people with IDD and their families. It is an opportunity to learn more about what it means to have IDD, celebrate the accomplishments of people with IDD, and promote inclusion in all aspects of life.

From the mountains to the coast, we are seeing more and more local businesses, organizations, and schools getting involved in IDD Awareness Month. It has been so inspiring to see the community come together to support those living with an IDD diagnosis.

These proclamations are just one step in ensuring that those with intellectual disabilities are given the recognition and support they deserve. This is also a reminder that everyone has something to contribute to their community, regardless of their abilities.

We would like to thank our clients, staff, and friends for their support in making IDD Awareness Month a success. We look forward to continuing this important work together in the years to come.
