Abound Company Culture: Aloha Fridays

Company culture is defined as a set of values, beliefs, and behaviors that define who we are. It shapes how we interact with each other and with our clients, and it plays a significant role in how we operate. We have built our culture around the implementation of ‘Aloha Fridays’.

Each week at Abound, we come together as a team to celebrate Aloha Fridays by wearing Hawaiian shirts.

The meaning of Aloha can best be described using this acronym:

A: “Akahai,” meaning kindness, to be expressed with tenderness
L: “Lokahi,” meaning unity, to be expressed with harmony
O: “Oluolu,” meaning agreeable, to be expressed with pleasantness
H: “Haahaa,” meaning humility, to be expressed with modesty
A: “Ahonui,” meaning patience, to be expressed with perseverance

These meanings embody a lot of the Abound essence. We embrace the Hawaiian concept of Aloha in everything we do. Aloha is more than just a word, it is a way of life. It is a way of showing compassion and kindness to others, of working together in harmony, and of approaching every situation with a positive attitude. The best way we celebrate Aloha Friday is by wearing Hawaiian shirts together.

We also implement Aloha in our company culture by hosting Hawaiian themed events at our Day Programs and offices. In addition, we also wear our Hawaiian gear during our annual ‘Spirit Week’ and our quarterly team building events.

As we don our brightly colored shirts, we are reminded of the importance of living each day with Aloha in our hearts. By embracing the values of Akahai, Lokahi, Oluolu, Haahaa, and Ahonui, we create a workplace where everyone feels welcome and valued. We are proud to bring the spirit of Aloha to work each day, and we hope that our example will inspire others to do the same.

So today, let us all take a moment to spread a little Aloha. Mahalo!
