Shooting for Inclusivity

WBTV News recently highlighted one of our very own clients on their Facebook page. In this post, you can see 11th grader Spencer Neill nailing a half-court shot at the St. Stephens High School gymnasium.

Spencer, the team’s basketball manager, lives with Down Syndrome in Catawba county. Since birth, Spencer has persevered through many life-threatening surgeries and hospital stays, but nothing stops him.

His mother Donna mentions that Spencer attempts a half-court shot every game and  has been working towards this goal since elementary school. On the day of the last regular season game, his classmates rushed the court as he finally achieved his goal. When asked about his personal motto, Spencer says: “Never give up, keep making shots. Turn your misses into swishes.”
